The custom project includes a behavioral deep-dive to understand the roots of the opposing attitudes and design a proposed plan of action that would ensure that there is no conflict between tourism goals and local community goals.

The custom project designs a set of gamification and behavior design tactics to maximize the likelihood that participants will opt for the most responsible options during the events and that the event footprint will be lowered significantly.
…but it does not know how to ensure that travelers will start behaving more responsibly during their visits without losing interest in the destination. The custom project formulates a set of desired behaviors that should become the norm for visitors and designs creative tactics for encouraging new behavioral norms through destination promotion and the communication tactics of local businesses.
By seeing where the world is going and by getting inspiration at ATWS in Goteborg and Milena Nikolova’s session on Behaviour-Smart Thinking, we at Ticino Tourism Board also decided to propose that this 2022 ATWS is an entirely vegetarian summit, with the aim of showing that changes are possible. It’s just a matter of will and breaking old habits.
